A common problem with the original Game Boy is that the screen lens falls off because the adhesive fails, or that it becomes scratched or damaged.
The screen lenses are made of tempered glass and are very robust, scratch-resistant and clear. They come with a self-adhesive backing: simply peel off the backing and stick them on. No additional adhesive is therefore required.
It’s best to fit the screen lens as the final step. This allows you to ensure that no dust remains between the LCD and the glass lens. To remove dust, a small blower, a hairdryer or compressed air from a can are suitable.
If you are using the front screen lens in an original shell, remove the old adhesive completely. This will prevent unsightly bulges and ensure the screen lens fits flush with the shell.
An optional vinyl film is applied to the adhesive surface at the back of the screen lens. It is self-adhesive, so once applied, it leaves a continuous adhesive surface.
