The RetroSix GG CleanScreen V4 IPS Kit is a modern display upgrade for the Sega Game Gear and has been developed for all common mainboard revisions. The new version 4 supports all Game Gear models currently available on the market. This means you no longer need to search for a suitable IPS kit for your model. According to RetroSix, version 4 supports all Game Gear revisions (VA0, VA1, VA2, VA4 and VA5). Installation is carried out using a ribbon cable rather than individually routed wires. With the RePCB motherboard and its region switch, the Game Gear can run at either 50 or 60 Hz; both are supported by the V4.
The basic version (Core) can be upgraded to the Pro version at any time. To do this, connect the board to a computer and use the CleanScreen page on RetroSix’s website. The Pro version offers advanced diagnostic functions, desktop software for screenshots and oscilloscope measurements, custom start screens, an additional connectable button, and a VGA/RGB output.
If you experience picture distortion or noise, RetroSix recommends first installing the latest firmware via ggcs.retrosix.co.uk.
